Promotions & Discounts

First Session Free
First Session Free (“FCF”) may be redeemed once per family and cannot be applied to more than one student.

  • New Horizon Star (“HS”) students can redeem FCF toward their Private Tutoring Plan of 12 weeks (24 hours total)  or greater hours (minimum purchase requirement of $110/week).

  • Returning HS students are not eligible for this promotion.

FCF is not retroactive and cannot be applied to previous purchases. FCF cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, or discount. FCF has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash. FCF cannot be transferred. FCF is valid at limited times throughout the year.

School Promotions

We occasionally invite schools to participate in discounts and/or special offers on our programs. These School Promotions are exclusive for families enrolled at participating schools and they cannot be transferred. School Promotions cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, or discount. School Promotions have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Program Policies

Private Tutoring Policies

Horizon Star Private Tutoring is a subscription program, billed weekly on the same day of each week and is at minimum quarter-to-quarter. The minimum plan is a 24-hour package split over 12 weeks.

Purchasing a private tutoring plan reserves the time with the designated professional tutor. As such, all tutoring sessions will be scheduled prior to the start of the program, at times mutually agreeable to all tutoring clients and the Horizon Star tutor(s). Therefore, refunds to private tutoring hours, unless it falls within our Tutoring Satisfaction Guarantee, are not available. Customers may request a store credit for any unused Private Tutoring Hours. Horizon Star Store Credit may be used toward any Horizon Star program, including those for another past, present, or future student in the family. If hours are being transferred to another student, hours will be prorated at the time of transfer at the tutoring tier rate of the tutor assigned to the new student. Minimum purchase policies apply.

Once tutoring sessions are scheduled, students are responsible for canceling scheduled tutoring sessions at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tutoring time and said requests must be made by directly contacting the tutor assigned to the session. If a student does not cancel a scheduled session at least 24 hours in advance, he or she will be charged in full for that session. If students do not attend any scheduled session, they are not entitled to a refund or individual make-up session. 

As part of conducting the highest quality programs with every student, Horizon Star’s Professional Tutors end each session 5 minutes before the appointed finish time. This is critical so that they can update each student’s goals, prepare parent update communication, and identify the best session materials for the following meeting with that student. If a student is late the set end time will still stand.

For programs that require tutors to work outside of session time on custom material, such as reviewing a student’s written work to provide feedback, reviewing and preparing for specific science laboratory design that is unique to that student’s class, or developing and conducting a custom course from scratch for that private tutoring student, tutors reserve the right to deduct tutoring hours for that custom preparation work. In those cases, tutors will contact the client ahead of time before performing that custom work and deducting the time.

Tutoring Policies

Students may purchase Tutoring in one or more subjects. Each subject requires a separate purchase with a professional tutor assigned in the subject selected at purchase. Purchases are unique to the subject and tutor. 

Horizon Star Tutoring Co. has the highest commitment to providing quality programs for every student. In rare circumstances, a professional tutor may need to be removed from a Tutoring assignment. Horizon Star Tutoring will rematch all impacted students with a professional tutor qualified in the subject and with similar availability. We are not responsible for circumstances that may lead to a tutor’s removal (ex. Illness, family concerns, emergencies, etc). All of our tutors are hand-picked by us and we are a team. Therefore, it is almost never in our control when a tutor must be removed from an assignment. 

There are no refunds or prorations permitted with Tutoring. All purchases of Tutoring are final. Hours paid for will always be available on the student’s dashboard.

Session Recordings

Online sessions may be recorded and viewed for quality assurance and training purposes. Upon special request, recordings of a session may be distributed to enrolled students in case of absence or review.


Notes from online sessions are always available through a custom link. These links may be sent to a student's email to start a session or to allow them to complete homework online.

Non-solicitation Agreement

By becoming a Horizon Star Tutoring Co. customer, you agree that you will not solicit for employment, hire, or engage as an independent contractor, or permit any organization directly or indirectly controlled by you to solicit for employment, hire, or engage as an independent contractor, any person employed by Horizon Star Tutoring Co. at any time during the term of  Horizon Star Tutoring Co.’s provision of services to you. Any additional services desired of a  Horizon Star Tutoring employee may be requested through Horizon Star Tutoring at 1-702-712-2858.
